Do you ever listen to a song that just speaks to you? I mean, really speaks to you. When I was in high school, the Goo Goo Dolls was the one band that, without fail, had the perfect song to get me through whatever I needed to get through–to get through the pain of betrayals, to get through the stress of studying, to just get through, in general. High school is rough–unnecessarily so.
But it was always books and music that got me through it all. A good quote, an inspiring lyric–sometimes it takes the words of another to perfectly articulate what you so desperately need to hear, to provide those feelings of solace and strength and the need and desire to move onward. Authors and musicians spend their lives working to speak to us all. They allow us to mentally travel to faraway places, to escape the moment and focus on the future.
Which is why I wanted to share this particular song with all of you. It’s called, “Let Love In,” by the Goo Goo Dolls. If you’ve heard it before, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, take 4 minutes out of your time and take a listen. It just might bring you the inspiration and comfort you’ve been longing for.
“You wait, wanting this world to let you in.
And you stand there, a frozen light
In dark and empty streets.
You smile hiding behind a God-given face
But I know you’re so much more
Everything they ignore is all I need to see…”
